Commonwealth Neonatology provides specialized care for very sick or premature babies. Our group heads the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) teams at Bon Secours Richmond Health System hospitals.

Led by Bonnie Makdad, MD, our neonatologists and neonatal specialty nurse practitioners staff the NICUs at St. Mary’s Hospital, Memorial Regional Medical Center and St. Francis Medical Center. We are also now pleased to offer our care at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, Virginia.

All members of our team are board-certified or board-eligible neonatologists and certified neonatal nurse practitioners. As one of the largest neonatal providers in the mid-Atlantic, our medical staff has over 350 years of combined neonatal medical experience, and our diverse expertise and interests enable us to effectively collaborate in order to provide quality medical care for our patients each and every day of the year.
