R. Davis Amaker, M.D.
Prior to joining Commonwealth Neonatology, Dr. Amaker served as Attending Neonatologist and Clinical Professor at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia.
He has been a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics since 1993 and has received numerous professional honors including the American Federation for Clinical Research Award for two years in a row. He has been published in several journals and has presented at professional meetings on various topics.
Dr. Amaker completed his post-doctoral work at Children’s Hospital at Richland Memorial Hospital, University of South Carolina and the Medical College of Georgia. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina.
